The excellently trained horses make every rider´s heart beat faster and your hosts are themselves passionate riders who are happy to share their enthusiasm for the sport with you! The world-famous Cape Winelands fascinate with the impressive back of mighty, red-bright mountains with rugged cliffs, gently rolling, almost endless vineyards, centuries-old wineries with a long tradition and historic towns with colourful architecture such as Franschoek, Stellenbosch or Paarl.
The program is also ideal for an extension of your wilderness horseback safari in South Africa, Botswana or similar. - so you can combine wildlife viewing and Cape Town and of course everything on horseback!
Itinerary
Riding program (example for 1 week, also longer or shorter possible) The riding program is very flexible and is based entirely on your personal wishes. The special feature of this concept is that you will get to know the Cape Winelands with a very experienced guide and dine à la carte in various ed restaurants both at lunch and dinner. This way you will also get to know and appreciate the Cape Winelands in culinary terms - you will be delighted by the quality and creativity of the South African-international cuisine, as well as by the location and ambience of the individual restaurants! On horseback you will also visit the most noble wineries in the area to taste the best wines at the wine tastings.
Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town. Transfer to your chosen accommodation (approx. 35 min) and check in. In the afternoon you will go for a first ride in the nearer surroundings, where you will get to know your horse. After the ride you will return to your accommodation. Day 2: The morning ride takes you up into the Simonsberg Mountains. Your destination is a wonderful viewpoint where you are already expected for a fresh drink and snack. The views over the Paarl Valley are breathtaking and you will soon realise that the region can be proud of a long and successful history of wine culture. At the foot of the mountains you follow the path further through the vines to the Anura winery. Here you will enjoy a wine tasting with cheese snacks followed by an à la carte lunch. Well fortified you can continue the ride through the vineyards. On the way you will stop at Neil Joubert´s private winery to taste some of his award-winning wines. You will be back around 4pm and (depending on your accommodation) you can relax by the pool with a sundowner or treat yourself to a massage (extra charge).
Day 3: An extended morning ride takes you through groves of lemons, pears, peaches and plums to the famous Backsberg Winery where you are invited to a typical wine tasting. The way back leads along the western foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains with magnificent views of the Franschoek Valley and the vast Great Drakenstein Mountains in the distance. The ride back to the stable takes you through fragrant eucalyptus forests and along winding mountain paths. Enjoy a late lunch at a nearby winery. The rest of the afternoon you can relax or join an excursion to one of the pretty historic towns of Stellenbosh, Franschoek or Paarl. The region is not only famous for its wines but also for its fantastic cuisine - you can enjoy both at a multi-course dinner in a restaurant in the evening.

Finally you will reach another winery where you will be expected for lunch. The afternoon is at your leisure to relax. There are various excursions and activities for those who want to use their visit to do and discover as much as possible. Alternatively, you can take another ride - in the evening sun the mountains glow a particularly intense red. As every evening you are invited to a stylish dinner in a ed restaurant.
Day 5: In the morning we will ride up on horseback to another well-known winery in the neighbourhood, this time the Glen Carlou Wine Estate, for a wine tasting with a small snack. There is always the opportunity for beautiful gallops on soft trails - a joy for horses and riders alike! After lunch you drive to Franschhoek where you can stroll through the historic old town. On the way there you will visit some of the region´s famous wineries, which are known for their world-famous top wines. You will have dinner with your four-legged friends, because, as a surprise, the candlelight dinner will be served in the garden near the stables.
Day 6: After you have recovered your riding muscles a little yesterday afternoon, today you will go on an extended ride with magnificent views! This takes you through forests, along the mighty rock faces of the Simonsberg to a cosy picnic area in the forest. The narrow, winding paths through the forest are also used for gallops, which guarantee pure adrenalin! After the sporty ride you return to your accommodation in the early afternoon, where there is still time to relax. For dinner you will be served a typical South African dish, prepared by a local cook according to her own recipe.
