Hike to the Viento Peninsula
An old cattle trail leads to the Punta del Viento (Peninsula of the Wind), which is the first viewpoint of the Brazo Moyano (branch of Lake Viedma). The path continues deeper into the valley, which becomes narrower, surrounded by the Cordón Huemul and its peaks with a height of 2700 m. The glacier of the Blue Lagoon can already be seen on the horizon of the valley. The path then leads into a forest. Mostly you will see guanacos and condors, which approach curiously to watch the visitor. After another hour you will see a 300 m high spectacular waterfall at the end of the valley. Unterkunft

The Lodge: It has 8 luxurious rooms, all with private bathroom. There is a dining room and comfortable living room. The history of Helsingfors is over 100 years back. In the early 20´s the adventurous Finn Mr. Alfred Ranströn arrived in Argentine Patagonia. Overwhelmed by the beauty of the country, he decided to stay here. He settled at the foot of the Andes on the southwestern shore of Lake Viedma, opposite Mt. Fitz Roy (or Chalten, as the local Tehuelches call him). In memory of his homeland, he named the lodge after Finland´s capital at the time: Helsingfors. His love of trees transformed the surroundings into a beautiful colourful coniferous forest.

Cuisine: Another thing that makes Helsingfors a unique experience is its excellent gourmet cuisine. The lodge has its own vegetable garden and a fine wine cellar with a good ion of Argentine and Chilean wines. These go well with the typical dishes of the country, such as Patagonian lamb or trout.
