Unser Tipp
Take a trip to Raermond during your stay - a cosy, beautiful town with a history.Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
The National Park “De Meinweg” extends directly beyond the German border. The area includes the Dutch municipalities of Roermond and Roerdalen and the German municipalities of Wassenberg, Wegberg and Niederkrüchten.
Discover the beautiful, varied landscape of the national park during the rides. Along the disused, nostalgic railway tracks (last regular train ride in 1994) you get a first impression of the environment, history and nature. The landscape of the national park is characterised by pine forests, heathland, small lakes and moors. On your rides through the national park you will certainly see some of the animals native here.
Reiseverlauf

The surroundings and the equestrian programme:
The municipality of Roerdalen offers a network of more than 150km of marked riding and carriage routes. The routes lead through the most beautiful places in the national park, which includes a total of 1800ha and is another 5000ha large on the German side. These wide, sandy riding routes invite you to long canter routes.
On your exploration, you will ride through the Melicker Heide, the Luesekamp and the Melicker Ven (a small lake), which invites you to go swimming with the horses in good weather.
Your ride will also take you past the nearby Obstaclebaan, a ca. 155m long and 25 wide piece with about 10 natural obstacles built from heavy oak trunks. These obstacles are often used by riders and coachmen, and during the annual fox hunts this is a popular motif for photographers, if approx. 40 Riders and 40 pack dogs jump over the obstacles.
You will pass various monuments on your rides, such as the Maharishi building, a huge Indian building located in the middle of the forest, created by the Guru Maharishi. Today, this building is an international centre of natural healing.
A visit to the Hotel St. Ludwig, the Jägerhof and the Dahlheim Mill will be sought during your rides. Here you can pause in idyllic surroundings and strengthen yourself for the further ride.
Once back at the farm, stop the day in good weather on the terrace around the campfire or in the cosy café by the fireplace.
