Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf

This ride of 5 days suits very sporty riders. On four riding days you will ride up to 50 km daily (a total of about 170 km). On field paths, the plains and the beach of Ampuria, extensive trot and gallop distances are waiting for you again and again. Also a beach canter is on the program. You are accommodated in different country inns and hotels.

Reiseverlauf

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the country house where you will be welcomed by the team. During dinner you will discuss the riding tour and learn more about the horses. In a personal conversation we will try to find the ideal horse for each rider. Afterwards a social dinner awaits you.

Day 2: After breakfast you prepare the horses and set off. Through Mediterranean forests, over hills and fields you will reach the village Bascara at the river Fluvia. The local horse race track invites you to a brisk gallop. Lunch break in a country house. Afterwards you continue through small villages, past olive groves and walnut plantations, upstream to Besalu. You will stay overnight in a comfortable hotel.

Day 3: Besalu was the former capital of this region. The buildings, small alleys, squares and terraces are worth seeing. The atmosphere in this medieval town is unique and its Roman bridge is a great photo motif. From Besalu we will return to our accommodation via a different route. After the lunch break you ride over mountainous terrain.

Day 4: The ride now takes you into the Baix Empordà. Although this is a very prosperous area, the traditional country life has not been abandoned. The paths are not asphalted and the fields are not fenced in. Every hour you will see small villages, churches, archways and wooden doors with metal fittings. You will cross Sant Miquel de Fluvia and have lunch in a cork oak forest. Then you continue until you reach the Gulf of Rosas. You will stay overnight in Sant Pere Pescador in a hotel. Dinner in a restaurant in the village.

Day 5: The long sandy beach awaits you for a morning gallop. A picturesque world in one of the most beautiful bays of the Mediterranean. In Sant Marti de Empuries you will have your well-deserved breakfast. After the refreshment, the tour continues through the yellow and green of the gardens and fields to the riding school. You shower the horses and say goodbye to them at the paddock. Then you will be taken to the airport.

Unterkunft

Selected charming horse farms, country houses, guesthouses and hotels, mostly rooms with shower/WC are the accommodations on this tour.

Pferde, Reiten & Zaumzeug

Pferde: Andalusier, Andalusier-Mix and Arabians.

Sattel & Zaum: Endurance saddles & English saddles. Western saddles on request. Saddle bags for personal belongings and the lunch picnic are provided.

Reiterfahrung: Comfortable in all gaits and safe on foreign horses in the country even at a brisk pace. Good condition required. Riding time approx. 5-7 hours daily. Total distance approx. 170 km.
