Ride through the endless steppes on home-bred Akhal-Teke horses, renowned for their beauty, endurance and close connection to Hungarian horse culture. These noble animals are raised by a passionate family who have been cultivating a tradition passed down through generations. Saddle up with handmade Hungarian saddles and explore the varied landscape between Hungary's two largest rivers, the Danube and the Tisza. From vast steppes to the wetlands of the Tisza, the Kiskunság desert and finally the Danube. Feel the freedom of untouched nature and encounter native animals up close. During your 200 km journey, you will stay in traditional yurts and guest houses, which offer an authentic insight into the life of the region.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ópusztaszer and accommodation in yurts on the meadows of the Akhal-Teke stud farm. It is possible to take a trial ride today and look around the Akhal-Teke stud farm. Dinner at around 7 p.m.

Day 2: Ride to the Tisza
The first ride starts at 9 a.m. After a 3-4 hour ride, you will take a lunch break with a picnic. In the afternoon, you will ride to your destination, the Tisza. On the way there, you will cross the romantic old floodplain of the Tisza. You will fill a small bottle with water from the Tisza. At the end of the trip, you will pour the water from your bottle into the Danube. This symbolises the nomadic way of life. Your accommodation for the night will once again be the yurt camp on the farm.

Day 3: Kiskunmajsa
Today you will begin your trail ride. First, you will ride through the semi-desert of the lowlands, which merges into the sand dunes of the Kiskunság. After 3 to 4 hours of riding, you will stop for a picnic lunch and continue riding in the afternoon to your destination for the day, Kiskunmajsa. Accommodation is in a guest house near the thermal baths.

Day 4: Bugac
The day begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast. Afterwards, you will ride through the juniper bushes and sand dunes of Bugac. On the way, you will stop for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, you will reach your destination, Bugac, where you can visit the stud farm and meet the local cattle herders, the ‘Csikos’. Accommodation for the night is in a cosy farmhouse.

Day 5: Kiskörös
You continue your journey west through fields and small forests until you reach Kiskörös. You spend the day in the saddle with a lunch break for horses and riders. Accommodation is in a cosy farmhouse.

Day 6: Bakodpuszta
After breakfast, you will saddle up your horses for today's ride to Bakodpuszta. Along the way, you will learn about the native and protected animals and the diverse bird population of the Hungarian lowlands. Accommodation is on a ranch.

Day 7: Arrival at the Danube
After today's ride, you will reach your destination, the Danube. You will leave the sand dunes of Kiskunsag behind you and reach an extensive salt-alkali desert that resembles the ancient steppes. At the end of the tour, you will pour the water from the Tisza River into the Danube. Accommodation is in a guest house.

Day 8:
After breakfast, farewell and departure.

Accomodation
First two nights in genuine Kazakh and Mongolian yurts. Yurts are not tents, but an old form of traditional dwelling. Our yurts are located on the pasture of our stud farm. Through the open ceiling of the yurts, guests can see the starry sky and hear the sounds of the moving horses, allowing them to rest in harmony with nature in close proximity to the horses. Hot and cold water bathing cabins are located separately near the yurts.
There is a large communal yurt which can comfortably accommodate 40-50 people, with a large open fireplace in the middle and a buffet trolley next to it.

From the third night onwards, you will spend the night in cozy inns, mainly on farms.

Saddle & Tack: Self-made saddles in Hungarian style, modernized for today's riding needs and horses. They are extremely safe and comfortable and have proved their worth on tours in recent years.

Experience: For advanced riders. Confidence in all gaits. Maximum rider weight: 90 kg. Minimum age: 12 years

Horses: Achal-Tekkiner horses, born and raised at farm. The Achal-Tekkiner is an intelligent, dynamic and sensitive breed of horse. It has exceptional mental abilities. If kept in a harmonious environment, they are reliable and very cooperative.
