Things to know about our riding tours
Horses
Pegasus-Equitour provides you with horses that are easy to ride and forward going. Mostly you ride on typical national breeds like: Andalusian, Arabian, Berber, Hispano-Arabian, Icelander, Lusitanos, Quarter-Horse, Tenesse Walker and many others. These horses have been on the tours and rides for many years and are characterized by their strong nerves and sure-footedness.
Supervision
Each riding group is supervised by a tour guide, who usually speaks several languages. With his many years of experience and knowledge, he can tell the riders a lot about the surroundings and the country and is responsible for the smooth running of the trip.
Experience Level
For the TOURS and ADVENTURE RIDES you should have sufficient riding experience and be saddle-bound in all gaits. The trails are usually not suitable for beginners. The minimum requirement is 50 riding hours, a part of it also in the terrain and in all gaits. You should be able to indicate the direction and speed to a good horse, i.e. a willing, forward going and safe horse.
Pegasus & Equitour offers numerous stationary programs and training stables worldwide for beginners and returnees, so that the right holiday can be made possible for every rider. More detailed requirements can be found in the individual programs.
STATIONARY and TRAINING PROGRAMMES only have a classification if a certain minimum level of training or riding practice is required, often these programmes are also suitable for beginners. The riding stables usually also offer a programme with stationary rides for nature lovers among the travellers.
Riding in Groups
Whether you arrive alone, as a couple or in a group, whether you are at home in Europe or overseas - the common love for horses and the fun of riding combine! Make new friends and enjoy the sociability among like-minded people.
We keep the group sizes at an average of 10 people: the ideal number so that you can move forward quickly and there will be no boredom among the riders. The exact details can be found in the respective programmes.
Country and people
The charming thing about the rides is to explore the deserted landscapes, which are difficult to access for other tourists. You will experience the original nature and culture of your destination very closely. Due to the ecological form of our riding programs, we ride there with the express permission of the respective state authorities, that occasionally a road has to be crossed or a piece of asphalt has to be ridden, can unfortunately not be avoided. You ride through small ancient villages, enjoy the traditional cuisine and experience the culture of your destination to the full. Among other things, this is what makes horseback riding so attractive.
Living, eating and drinking
We want you to get to know your holiday country unspoilt. You will spend the night in typical houses, far away from the main streams of tourism. As there are naturally few hotels along our riding routes, transfers to the horses and hotels can always be arranged. Accommodation is in double rooms, unless otherwise stated in the programme (e.g. mountain huts, tents). A limited number of single rooms can be booked. Reservations should be made well in advance. We will inform you about the surcharge on request. Our prices on most tours include full board, the cuisine is always the traditional one of the host country. With the stationary programmes you also have time to organise your leisure time individually before and after the riding programme and can thus explore your holiday destination more closely.
Complaint
We are constantly striving to maintain and improve our programs on the Pegasus / Equitour standard, which has been tried and tested for over 40 years, and to immediately correct any weaknesses that occur. A justified complaint is to be indicated immediately locally (owner / management). Changes in the course and the overnight stations (e.g. by weather change) reserved. The speed of the riding tour etc. is exclusively at the discretion of the qualified, experienced tour guide. We cannot assume any liability for this. The instructions of the tour guides must always be followed for safety reasons. With the travel documents you will receive an assessment sheet from us. We would like to ask you to give us your objective opinion after your holiday. We would also be pleased to receive your suggestions for improvement. It serves the optimization of the program.
Inclusive prices and currencies
Since the prices include transfers, overnight stays, horse with equipment, care and mostly full board, you only need pocket money for drinks and your personal expenses. As you will hardly be able to visit a bank during your riding tour, it is advisable to exchange small change for local currency before departure. Small hotels are rarely equipped for currency exchange!
Arrival is exclusive, we are happy to send you a flight offer when booking a riding trip.
Tips
Beside the horses, whose reward is usually forgotten in more or less sweet naturalias by hardly any rider, the tireless commitment of the tour guide is of crucial importance for the success of your journey. If you are satisfied with his or her performance, he or she will certainly be pleased to receive a tip at the end of the trip. In the USA, tips are "mandatory" (approx. 10% of the tour price).
Vaccination, visa requirements
Every rider should have sufficient tetanus protection. The individual vaccination and visa regulations can be found in the descriptions of the individual programmes in the upper bar under Information about the region.
Guest Reviews
With each trip you will find a link "guest reviews", so you can find out in advance what other riders can tell about their trips.
