The starting point is a historic farm between Florence and Siena, in the middle of the Chianti region, famous for its red wine. Here you will stay in a comfortable, restored farmhouse in the middle of nature and surrounded by pastures, forests and hills. The riding area offers excellent opportunities for extended rides through the Tuscan hills, past medieval castles, country estates and Etruscan ruins. Here you can enjoy picturesque Tuscany to the full! The horses at the riding center are highly trained and qualified instruction is offered on request for beginners and advanced riders.

Itinerary

Chianti Castles and Wine Trail:
A complete program of half and full day trail rides, where you will explore medieval and Etruscan sites and visit wineries, with tastings, of course.

Day 1: Arrival at the riding centre in the afternoon, around 19.00 welcome drink
and introduction to the new place, 20.30 dinner

2nd day: Half day riding to the Romanic Abbey of Badia d'Ombrone.
Lunch at the riding centre and in the afternoon riding to our neighbour at the
mediaeval Castello di Montalto for a visit of the surrounding.

3rd day: One full day of riding on rolling hills and landscapes that take you to Arceno, a centuries old property, where you will breathe in history and beauty. In the heart of Tuscany in the Sienese Chianti. The wine farm extends for more than a thousand hectares, we will have a wine tasting in a fantastic location that has a view of the olive groves. There are also two tree-lined avenues of grand cypresses that, given their great value and uncommon beauty, are protected by law. (https://www.tenutadiarceno.com/en)
We then stop to visit and maybe have an aperitif in the mediaeval village of San Gusme (11th century) and then onto the Etruscan site of Campi, where we have a picnic. The panoramic view is magnificent as it spans from Monti del Chianti to Siena and then to Monte Amiata.
On our journey home, we will again pass part of the Arceno estate.

4th Day: Half day riding in the morning at the mediaeval village of Montebenichi or to the polo club VAS, with lunch at the riding centre. In the afternoon, we will visit the mediaeval town of Montepulciano where we will taste the famous wine Nobile di Montepulciano and visit the towns which have been the sets for many historical films.

5th day: One full day riding with a picnic or light lunch according to availability in Felsina, in the Chianti Classico heading at FELSINA wine farm, which wineyou are tasting at our table!

6th day:  On full day riding with a picnic at Rapale.In the morning we are riding in Arezzo province ,just out of Chianti area and heading to the hamlet of Sogna.Then we’ll ride through the village of Rapale, probably the last
example of a non-renovated ancient village and then we ride on a panoramic road with a open view on the “Crete Senesi” , Siena and the Amiata mountain, a completely different area.

7th day: You will take a half-day ride to the Borgo Monastero monastery. The route leads through green forests, olive groves and vineyards. After lunch at the riding center, you will leave for Siena in the afternoon, a must-see on any trip to Tuscany! Siena is considered the best-preserved historical city and offers numerous attractions, a great end to your vacation! In the evening, you will return to the riding center, where you will enjoy a final dinner together.

8th day: Breakfast and departure.

5th day: Half day riding in the morning. Lunch at the farm. Afternoon visit and wine tasting to the Castle of Brolio heart of the Chianti Classico, owned from Medieval Time by the Ricasoli family. Going home aperitive at the Village of Villa a Sesta with a stunning view on the chianti’s hills.

6th day: Half day riding at Rapale. We will then go up an ancient Etruscan road which, on sunny days, has an amazing view of the valley, the Chianti hills and Siena. We’ll pass through the village of Rapale, probably the last example of a non- renovated ancient village. Lunch at the Farm. In case of bad weather visit to the Etruscan Town Cortona, famous also for producing superb Syrah wines and for the book “ “Under the Tuscan Sun” written by Frances Mayes.

7th day: Half a day riding in the morning at the monastery Borgo Monastero, through forests, olive groves and vineyards. Lunch is at the riding centre and in the afternoon we go by car to the city of outstanding beauty; Siena -by far the best well preserved medieval town in Italy and also famous for the Palio.

8th day: Breakfast and departure.

Accomodation
You will stay in the restored farmhouse in double rooms and apartments in the typical Tuscan country house style. Single occupancy is subject to a surcharge.
The star rides include full board. At lunchtime, there is either a picnic in the countryside, lunch at the riding center or on the road on a country estate. In the evening, a delicious dinner awaits you every day at your accommodation, of course with traditional Tuscan dishes and always the matching wine. One or two wine tastings are also included in the price (see program).
During the riding week, you will stay in an apartment and take care of yourself. A breakfast basket for the first day is included, and you can order more for an extra charge. Certain products such as wine are available at the farm. We recommend renting a car or traveling by car.

Saddle & Tack: English saddles and bridles.

Experience: Riding weeks are also available for beginners, pleasure rides for those with at least a moderate level of riding experience, and star rides for advanced riders with trail experience. Half-day rides last around 2.5 hours, and day rides 5-6 hours in the saddle. Maximum rider weight 90 kg.

Horses: Überwiegend italienische Warmblutpferde, Stockmass bis ca. 1,70m.
