Reiseverlauf
Alpine Panorama Trail (6 days):
An exciting trail ride through three countries. The route leads through the Münstertal valley, the Vinschgau valley, over the Reschen Pass and through the upper Inn Valley back to the Engadin.
Day 1: In the morning, you will meet at the riding stable and saddle up the horses. First, you will follow the Clemgia river to S-charl. Lead and silver were mined here for more than 300 years. The last wild brown bear in Switzerland lived in the adjacent national park until 1904. The route continues to Tamangur, past the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe, up to Funtana da S-charl (2393 m above sea level) and on to the Ofen Pass (Süsom Give) to Buffalora. Overnight stay at the Hotel Süsom Givè.
Day 2: Today, you will ride across the Buffalora Alp through the picturesque, unspoilt Val Mora to Sta Maria. Many wild flowers and herbs line the way. Overnight stay at the Hotel Stelvio.
Day 3: From Sta Maria, you will ride past the monastery of St. Johann, Müstair, with its statue of Charlemagne and unique cycle of frescoes. The monastery was designated a World Heritage Site in 1983. The tour continues to the westernmost municipality in South Tyrol, still in the Münstertal valley, to Taufers in Italy. Following the Rombach stream, you will reach Laatsch, a village with rural charm and the proud St. Leonhard Church in the midst of unspoilt natural surroundings. At the foot of the Arunda Valley, we arrive at Schleis with its impressive parish church of St. Laurentius and then follow the little river Etsch to the pretty Vinschgau farming village of Burgeis, where you will spend the night.
Day 4: After a steep climb, you reach the Brugger Alm, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Vinschgau Valley. You continue on to Reschen on Lake Reschen. Here you will find the most photographed motif in the Vinschgau Valley – the church tower of Alt-Graun. In 1950, a village had to make way for the construction of the reservoir, and today the tower rises out of the lake as a reminder of this. Overnight stay with a view over Lake Reschen at the Pension Froy.
Day 5: After a steep climb, you will reach the Reschner Alm above the Reschen Pass. This is one of the most important historical Alpine passes and, in pre-Roman times, was a mule track connecting the upper Inn Valley with the Vinschgau Valley in the south. The route continues past the ‘Dreiländereck’ (three-country corner) at Schwarzsee to Nauders and back up to our evening accommodation, Alpengasthof Norbertshöhe (1,407 m).
Day 6: The route descends steeply to Sclamischot. The Inn rages through the narrow gorge before escaping into Tyrol at the Finstermünz castle bridge. You follow the river again and again, riding through enchanted villages such as St. Niclà and Sur En. After the last steep ascent, you reach the riding stable. On the way, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Lower Engadine mountains once again. Individual departure in the evening.
Additional nights before and after the tour can be booked on request.
2-day ride Val Sinestra
Day 1: This ride takes you down to the Inn and up the other side of the valley to Sent. After Sent, you ride into the wild Val Sinestra and follow a forest path up towards Alp Lavèr. You will enjoy a picnic in a forest clearing. The trail continues across alpine meadows, where you will tackle a steep descent on foot to the Zuort farm.
Day 2: On the second day, you will ride along a high trail to Vnà, from where you will follow a beautiful high trail down towards Ramosch and ride along the Inn towards Sur En. Enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Inn before stopping for a quick coffee at Camping Sur En. From here, you continue back along the Inn.
2-day ride Val MüstairDay 1: We make a short stop in the famous S-charl, where you are very close to the mountains. Then you ride past the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe up to Alp Tamangur. After descending and making a short stop at Alp Champatsch, you will reach Lü via the Pass da Costainas (2251 m). Then you will tackle the last stage of the first day and arrive in Tschierv in the evening.
Day 2: Early in the morning, you will ride through the picturesque Münstertal valley towards the Ofen Pass. You will stop for lunch at Alp da Munt, followed by another challenging climb. At Funtana da S-charl (2,393 metres above sea level), you can enjoy a wonderful view. The route then continues to the familiar Tamangur Alp. There will be another coffee break in S-charl before heading back.
3-day ride Val Mora
Day 1: From San Jon (1,464 m), you ride through the wild and romantic valley to S-charl. After a short break, you ride past Europe's highest Swiss stone pine forest up to Alp Tamangur. After refreshments, there is a steep climb to the Minschuns ski area (2,393 m). From here, you follow an alpine road down via Alp da Munt to the Ofen Pass. Overnight stay at Hotel Süssom Givé (2149 m).
Day 2: You ride over the Ofen Pass and descend to Buffalora. From here, the ascent to Juf Plaun (2320 m), a breathtaking high plateau, begins. A steep descent takes you to Val Mora, where you ride past Alp Mora and enjoy a picnic somewhere in the countryside. After the highest point of Val Mora, you reach the beautiful Val Vau. Once in the Münstertal valley, you pass through Fuldera to Tschierv (1,690 m) and spend the night at Hotel La Vopa.
Day 3: Our route takes us via Lü (1920 m) and Alp Champatsch to the Pass da Costainas (2251 m). From here, a path leads through a mountain pine forest to Alp Tamangur, where you will see the God da Tamangur Swiss stone pine forest again. After lunch, you will ride back to S-charl. Refreshed, you ride the last 10 km back under saddle.
3-day ride Val Sinestra
Day 1: You start on the sunny side of the Engadin to Sent and continue into the Val Sinestra to the Hotel Sinestra. The Hotel Sinestra is secluded in a valley surrounded by unspoilt nature at an altitude of 1,500 metres. Val Sinestra was voted Landscape of the Year in 2011 by the Swiss Landscape Conservation Foundation. Val Sinestra stretches between the municipalities of Sent and Ramosch in a north-westerly direction towards the Fimber Pass (2,605 metres above sea level), which leads to Ischgl in Tyrol. The Brancla torrent flows through the valley, emerging from a rugged gorge at the Tschanüff castle ruins into the Inn valley and soon joining the Inn river.
With picturesque flower meadows in spring, fresh mountain air in summer, colourful larch forests in autumn and a mysterious fairytale landscape in winter, it is one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Switzerland. The air is clean, the people are friendly and the sun shines pleasantly often throughout the year. Sinestra. The Hotel Sinestra became famous through the film ‘Hotel Sinestra’. A haunting event gives some children a few days away from their parents in a snow-covered Swiss mountain hotel.
Day 2: From Sinestra, you will ride through the picturesque village of Vnà to Tschlin. You will ride through beautiful alpine landscapes high above the valley floor, where alpine roses bloom and bearded vultures hunt. An unforgettable view of the Engadin, the forests and our Engadin Dolomites, with the village of Tschlin as your destination. Tschlin lies like an eagle's nest on a beautiful sunny terrace. In Tschlin, a village where clever ideas abound, the small organic brewery Biera Engiadinaisa, known far beyond the village, thrives alongside other good ideas. The Bun Tschlin label encompasses high-quality products and services from the municipality, ranging from homemade liqueurs, fine sheep's milk yoghurt and goat's cheese to meat from Scottish Highland cattle. Quality instead of quantity, small but fine. You will stay at the Hotel Tschlin.
Day 3: From Tschlin, you will walk down the ‘senda dal magliavirüclas’ (wart-biter's path) to the Inn, then along the Inn to Sur En and back again.
Subject to change.
Unterkunft
Along the way, you will spend the night in beautiful inns and hotels in double and single rooms with shower/WC. These are often quaint, lovingly renovated accommodations with a long history. Additional nights in the guest house at Riding centre can be booked subject to availability. The rides start on the 1st day in the morning and end in the late afternoon on the last day.
